Job Description

The Global Aviation business unit at AECOM is currently seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Director of Aviation Program Management, to lead program management activities within the aviation sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of active aviation programs, business development of aviation sector pursuits and opportunities and program management leaders and staff on aviation programs.
The aviation programs on which AECOM provides program management services typically involve planning, design, construction, procurement, commissioning and closeout of multiple projects usually worth more than $1B in total capital value. AECOM Program Management provides the expertise, structure, tools, techniques and processes to deliver aviation clients' goals and outcomes for these major investments. The Director of Aviation Program Management will be instrumental in the successful development, implementation and delivery of major aviation programs globally.
The Director of Aviation Program Management will report to the Senior Vice President, Global Aviation and be a member of the Global Aviation team within AECOM's Transporation Global Business Line.
Responsibilities
- Serve in this key senior leadership role managing AECOM's overall aviation program management business growth and execution.
- Working closely and in concert with Global and Regional aviation and program management leaders (including Transporation and Program Management Global Businesses Lines, Regional Aviation Leads, and Transportation and Program Management Regional Business Line Leaders (RBLLs)):
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve aviation sector business goals and objectives
- Develop and manage a portfolio of aviation programs and projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of clients
- Oversee the management of program teams and ensure that they are adequately resourced and equipped to deliver high-quality work
- Collaborate with business development staff to identify new aviation program management business opportunities and develop strategies and proposals to secure new programs
- Manage and grow the global aviation program management opportunities pipeline
- Build and maintain relationships with aviation clients, stakeholders, and partners
- Develop and mentor program management leaders and staff.
- Interface with the AECOM Program Management GBL to effectively implement the AECOM Way of Program Management, utilizing best practices, tools, expertise and resources in growing and executing aviation programs.
- Monior financial performance on aviation programs and provide regular reports to senior management on the performance of the aviation program management business.
- Contribute to the development of our strategic growth plan of the Global Program Management practice.
- Conduct business development to secure new clients and projects. This includes identifying and tracking pursuits and participating in and/or leading proposals.
- Lead a team of experienced and emerging professionals globally with responsibilities for people management, project management and business development.
- Work collaboratively with other aviation practice leads to present the broad range of combined resources and capabilities to our airport clients.
- Work collaboratively with other Transportation Markets and Global Bbusiness Lines (Building & Places, Environmental, Water, Construction) to broaden our service offerings and expand our market reach.
- Support our Project Managers and Technical Leads to delivery projects to program, budget and quality expectations.
- Retain and manage relationships with existing clients and external colleagues and stakeholders.
- Provide thought leadership internally and externally
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in aviation
- Minimum of 10 years experience in program management, with a focus on delivery of large, complex projects/programs
- Must possess a strong working knowledge of the aviation sector and the technical and strategic drivers that create the need for major programs
- Recognized as a leader in both aviation and program management industries.
- Able to demonstrate an extensive industry-wide network and is well known for having successfully shaped, led or transformed multiple large or very large aviation programs.
- Proven track record of successful business development
- Experience leading and managing high-performing teams
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Exemplary leadership attributes that provide role modelling for others.
- Has built diverse and inclusive teams to enable collective success through trust, psychological safety, autonomy, accountability and alignment.
- Willingness to travel as required

- PMI-PgMP, APM-RPP or CMAA-CCM Certification (or equivalent) preferred but not essential
