AECOM is actively seeking a talented Environmental Program Manager for immediate employment for our Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North/South Dakota offices. This position can be a hybrid Office/Remote, supporting all locations within the Department.
This role is open to remote candidates who fit the qualifications below.

In this role, you will oversee various project managers to confirm projects align effectively with AECOM’s mission and the goals of the program. The main duties include organizing various programs and activities to improve company efficiencies, building long-term goals for company projects, and developing program and project budgets.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving business development (BD) activities and sales, implementing strategic growth initiatives and leading large pursuits for a diverse environmental consulting business preferably Remediation professional and technical services and can also include Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP), Air, and EHS.
The job includes a client and market facing role that identifies growth markets and opportunities while being in contact directly with key clients. It also includes working with Environmental Practice Leads (PLs), Client Account Managers (CAMs), Capture Managers (CMs), Strategic Technical Leads (STLs) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to deliver winning strategies on large or strategic pursuits and proposals.
This opportunity is best suited for a person with a natural drive and interest in sales, someone who enjoys speaking with clients and building relationships, a team player who understands environmental consulting and has a proven track record in growing accounts by selling professional services.
You will work in a supportive environment under the direction of the area department manager with various responsibilities, including the following:
Work with the Environment Leadership team to grow the business
Identify environmental growth markets and opportunities
Implement strategic growth initiatives
Implement business development activities – collaborate with PLs, CAMs, CMs and SMEs to bid on and win more work
Meet with key clients to understand their changing needs and priorities and present information on AECOM professional services
Lead large and strategic pursuits/proposals – develop the winning strategy, respond to RFPs including cost proposal development
Lead strategic teaming discussions with other consultants or service providers on larger bids
Mentor CAMs with client relationships and account plans – this could include being a CAM of a key account
Report on Environment sales forecasts and pipeline within and beyond the region
Ability to analyze and interpret complex policies and procedures related to site investigation and remediation and other relevant environmental requirements.
Manage an array of complex projects that tend to be larger in scope and value.
Create evaluation criteria and method to properly review and assess the strengths of your program and determine areas of improvement.
Accountable for the results of the team and adherence to the agreed upon scope, schedule, and budget.
Direct supervision of project managers and technical staff.
Solve business challenges and provide coaching to team members.
Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate less experienced staff.
Conduct peer reviews and share knowledge through internal technical presentations and standards development. Serve as technical lead on projects, confirming approach satisfies client scope of services and expectations.
Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
Advise local management on growth, staff recruitment and retention, and technical excellence strategies.
Identify trends, issues, and opportunities for in the environmental industry.
Actively involved with clients and supports business development initiatives.
Develop technical strategies for proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BS in engineering, geology, environmental science or related field and 6 years of experience in project management in environmental site investigation and remediation or demonstrated equivalency or experience and/or education.
US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally 10 years of experience in a business development role in an environmental profession that may include a specific discipline in either Remediation, EPP, Air, or EHS.
Proven track record of winning work in professional consulting services and growing client accounts.
Respected leader in Environmental Consulting.
Broad knowledge of and experience in environmental consulting work in various markets including Oil and Gas, Power, Infrastructure, Mining and/or Federal.
Demonstrated success at building relationships with clients.
Excellent communicator and team player.
Experience in using large data platforms (i.e., Salesforce) is preferred.
PE or PG license in respective state/states.
PMP certification.
MBA.
Current 40-hour HAZWOPER.

Offered rate of compensation for this role will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $93,000 to $143,000.
