Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be based in Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities:
Fueling Engineer will serve as discipline designer leader on projects that include an emphasis on receipt, storage, transfer, and issue of finished fuel products such as aviation jet fuel, diesel fuel, ethanol, and motor gasoline.
Projects include tanker truck receipt, marine vessel receipt, aboveground and underground transfer pipelines, aboveground and underground horizontal and vertical storage tanks, and aircraft and tanker truck issue systems. Projects will also include ground vehicle refueling systems such as fleet and retail service stations.
Position will include responsibility for development of discipline specific design execution plans for assigned projects. Position will be responsible for completing projects on schedule and within the established budgets and for ensuring that all discipline specific contract requirements have been met.
Fueling Engineer will assist in training and supervision of work of junior and mid-level engineers conducting fueling design work.
Fueling Engineer should be familiar with surge analysis software and should be able to adjust piping systems to reduce or remove the potential for pressure surges during system operation based on the results of a surge analysis.
Fueling Engineer should be familiar with thermal pipe stress analysis software and should be able to adjust piping systems to ensure stress levels in the piping systems are in accordance with acceptable levels listed in ASME B31.1 based on the results of a pipe thermal stress analysis.
Fueling Engineer should be familiar with hydraulic, pipe and fuel pump sizing calculation methods and software. Fueling Engineer should be able to use hand calculations and software to calculate fuel pump motor hp requirements.
Fueling Engineer will work and coordinate with multidiscipline engineering teams including civil, structural, and electrical engineers.
Fueling Engineer should have experience with Department of Defense (DoD) projects. Fueling Engineer should have experience with USACE, AFCEC, and NAVFAC agencies and should have completed designs for each of these agencies. Fueling Engineer should be familiar with DoD standards such as UFC 3-460-01 – Design Manual, AW 078-24-27 – Tank Standard, and AW 078-24-28 Type III standard.
Fueling Engineer should be familiar with commercial codes such as the IFC, NFPA 30, NFPA 30A, and NFPA 407.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
BA/BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering 6 Years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Five years of Department of Defense fueling project design experience
Two years of commercial fueling project design experience
Ability to travel one week per month inside the US and internationally
Experience and ability to use AutoCad
Hold professional engineer license in at least one state
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
