What are the responsibilities and job description for the Petrochemical Specialist position at AECOM?

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Petrochemical Specialist (or similar) for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in Midland, Michigan project office to support brine well plugging operations and investigation projects. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the petrochemical industry related to field activities including drilling, soil logging, well installation and sample collection. The position will not typically require travel outside a 4 county area surrounding Midland, MI.

In addition, the candidate will have some experience in data management and basic technical report production. Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical for this role.

Tasks will include:
Conducting environmental field work related to former brine well operations which consists of using historical aerials and information to locate and understand the well and its construction and abandonment.

Working closely with drilling field team to execute the well replugging plan.

Being familiar with utility clearance requirements for intrusive operations.

Field document preparation, field data collection, processing and interpretation.

Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.

Interpreting and recording data, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Soil Scientist, or closely related field and 4 years of experience in oil and gas associated fields and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Valid U.S. driver's license

Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Pass substance abuse testing and subsequent testing as a participant in client required random testing program.

Preferred Qualifications

6 years of experience in oil and gas well field environments

40-Hour HAZWOPER training

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Experience working with oil well drilling rigs

Driven and dedicated to meeting project deadlines
