Job Description

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Project Manager to be based in Virginia Beach, VA.

You will be joining of a global team of 500 maritime specialists who support on a wide range of maritime developments including container terminals, LNG facilities, waterfront developments, federal maritime facilities, cruise and ferry terminals, marinas and harbors as well as coastal schemes such as beach development and coastal protection schemes. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to the following:

  • Focused primarily on Federal/DoD projects,

  • Local and national projects,

  • Be part of building a team in the Mid Atlantic Region, part of a larger, very experienced group located on the East and West Coast.

Job Responsibilities:

Design:

Under the supervision of senior Project Engineers, the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of teams responsible for the design of small to large-scale Ports & Marine projects:

  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Project Management:

  • Manages one or more complex projects involving a full spectrum of engineering services offered by AECOM.

  • Provides project and technical task management for one or more simultaneous projects.

  • Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information, uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and makes recommendations.

  • Good presentation and communication skills in English. Good report and proposal writing skills.

  • Client Relationships: Ability to assist in developing new client relationships and to strengthen existing client relationships. Ability to identify, understand and focus on clients’ key requirements.

  • Team leadership: good team leadership skills. Self-starter, energetic, pro-active.

  • Strong Team player.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering or Maritime Engineering with 4 years of related experience.

  • Professional Engineer Registration with the ability to attain a Virginia State Professional Engineer Registration within 6 months.

  • Project Management experience in seaport related infrastructure.

  • Experience with computer aided design (AutoCAD).

  • Experience with ArcGIS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or Maritime Engineering with 8 years of related experience.

  • Previous experience in leading projects to required quality, timeliness, and budget parameters.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Previous experience in maintaining client relationships.

  • Experienced in planning, design, and construction management.
