What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineering V position at AECOM?
AECOM is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to be based in Rocky Hill, CT.
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will use your knowledge and understanding of bridge engineering and delivery expectations to effectively manage and lead bridge projects which are executed under conventional or alternative delivery models. Moreover, you will provide guidance to junior and intermediate staff in the delivery of projects. Implied is an ability to complete a bridge design from planning through to detailed design stages and into construction and contract administration.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Lead all elements of conceptual, preliminary and detailed final design of new bridges.
Perform assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges.
Lead all aspects of load rating of existing bridges.
Project engineering and project management on bridge projects.
Proficient in the use of computer software for the analysis and design of complex bridges and other structures.
Ability to lead a team under pressure and to meet tight project schedules.
Preparation of bridge plans, technical specifications, technical reports, design calculations, and provisions of construction phase services.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. As a team-player, you are professional in dealing with colleagues of all levels and disciplines. Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with eight (8) years of experience, primarily in bridge design.
- Structural Engineer with two (2) years of project experience with CTDOT and/or other State DOT’s.
- Current P.E. license in CT and/or surrounding states.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Well versed in modern structural, analytical and design software packages
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
- Strong Technical skills and ability to provide technical leadership
