What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at Aerotek?
DESCRIPTION:
CNC Programming candidates will have the opportunity to work on large-scale manual and CNC lathes, multi-axis CNC HBMs, Vertical Machining Centers, and VTLs. This is a low-volume, highly-engineered manufacturing environment, and candidates will be involved in the full life cycle of the build. The machine shop includes twelve large horizontal and vertical machining centers (up to 25-feet turning and 300-ton table capacity) and six small machining centers. This company is rapidly growing and candidates should expect two more large milling centers planned for installation in the near future.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Candidate will work closely with the CNC Programmers, Tool Applications, Machine Shop Managers, and machinists.
- Expected to generate programs for a variety of CNC machines, including but not limited to: horizontal boring mill, vertical mills capable of machining 5 axis, vertical boring mills, and vertical machining centers capable of multi-axis machining.
- Must be able to work in a team environment with Operations, Engineering, Planning, Quality, and Project Management.
- Responsible for providing guidance and help with: establishing and maintaining machining processes, machining drawings and guidelines, investigating and implementing corrective actions, reviewing change requests, support special projects such as equipment procurement, generating estimates for development, trouble shooting, serving on process improvement teams, and supporting the Company's safety culture and security requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate of Science Degree plus four (4) years of experience or High School diploma or equivalent plus eight (8) years of relevant experience required.
- Bachelor of Science highly desirable
- Practical hands-on experience in an engineering, machining, or similar manufacturing role desired.
- Must be a self-starter and highly motivated; willing and able to follow verbal and written instructions, procedures, and/or standard work practices.
- Must have working knowledge of and be able to interpret and apply standard G - codes and M - codes.
- Must be familiar with ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T).
- Experience with a variety of CNC controls is beneficial, especially Siemens 840D, Fanuc, and Giddings & Lewis
- Must be knowledgeable with Windows operating systems and Office products.
- Proficient in the use of Siemens NX (Unigraphics) CAD/CAM package
- Knowledge of Siemens NX (Unigraphics) Post Builder or Post Configurator is preferred
- Strong applied mathematics experience is required. Geometry and Trigonometry are desirable
- Must exhibit strong problem-solving skills relative to machining and CNC processes
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously including administrative tasks
- Some business travel is expected
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance
- Flexibility to report at other scheduled times as business need dictates
