What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer position at Aerotek?
Description:
These individuals will perform tests such as density and compaction on the soil and concrete. Other tests on concrete and soil will include sieve (to assess the particle size distribution, also called gradation, of a granular material). The size distribution is often of critical importance to the way the material performs in use, and air testing, the pressure meter has an upper chamber filled with air and a lower chamber that the technician fills with concrete. To measure the air content of the concrete, the upper chamber is pressurized and then the volume of air is released into the lower chamber. The pressure gauge on the top of the meter indicates the change in pressure as it’s released into the concrete. The measurement is from the bubbles in the concrete compressing under the increase in pressure. The only ingredient in the concrete that is compressible is the air.
The employee must be comfortable with communicating with construction workers when areas need to be fixed(rerolled for a high enough compaction rate of 95% or higher) and holding those individuals accountable to do so. The employee will be writing reports/drawing maps of the site to bring back for Krista and Jeff to write final reports. These reports will consist of what tests were run in a day and how much area they tested. This individual will also be recording their hours and turning them into Jeff and Krista on a weekly basis.
The employee will be driving (in the company van with another team member) all around the Metro Detroit area within a 75 mile radius of the Plymouth, MI location. They will start their day reporting to the Plymouth office and then going with a team out to different sites to perform tests like are listed above.
