The AES CE Field Service team is looking for a seasoned SCADA/Communications Technician with field experience, this individual would play a pivotal role in ensuring that AES CE operates the portfolio to standards that exceed industry best-practice. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, and have the ability to build, train and lead other field personnel. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Troubleshoot and repair site network equipment failures including servers, network switches, firewall ACA equipment, fiber loops, and device communications (inverters, trackers, met stations, etc) Troubleshoot and repair site meteorological station failures including sensor replacement, calibration, and other station failures Perform periodic maintenance on substation battery and DC power systems per PRC-005 Assist in special projects including site network upgrades, site telecom upgrades/changes and any additional projects that relate to the telecom/network/SCADA systems on site Coordinate with telco providers to restore data/communication circuits during outages and works with providers to determine root cause of outages and continued troubleshooting of unstable circuits Determine strategic spares requirements for networking and telco equipment and maintains spares inventory Identify weaknesses in AES CE networking and telecommunication infrastructure and determine where additional redundancy can be built out and lead these projects Participate in plant commissioning and hand-off to operations and ensures the proper networking and telco documents have been handed over to Operations Document Immediate Actions for Control Center Operations to take in the event of site telemetry outages Interface with substation relays, meters, and other electronic equipment Perform routine (electrical troubleshooting and repair, instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting) and complex (distributed control systems, Inverter troubleshooting) maintenance work, up to their capabilities, as assigned and/or directed by supervisor and work orders from the preventive maintenance management system Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility Ensure work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements Desired Skills, Expertise and Competencies: Qualified to perform routine and emergency operations at a solar generation facility and switchyard Proven experience with a multitude of electrical/construction projects and deep knowledge of IT equipment Understands networking protocols: TCP/IP, Modbus, DNP3 Understanding of general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place Ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional and geographically diverse organization Maturity, professionalism and excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing with superiors and colleagues High energy, developed interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic Detail-oriented with an ability to synthesize complex analysis, approach new challenges with creativity and summarize information in a manner that supports key decision makers Excellent hands on abilities with strong technical skills Demonstrates proactive enthusiasm for openly and honestly, does not engage in gossip Models professional behaviors of conduct and decorum Willingness to learn new technologies (i.e. Battery Energy Storage Systems) and support the networking/telco needs with these new technologies Ability to operate personal computer with technical proficiency of standard business software Ability to read, write and understand English Education / Experience: Possess 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications Five (5) or more years of experience in a power plant or related industry Three (3) or more years of experience in IT, SCADA, controls, or commissioning Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid state theory application Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities Working Conditions: Working outside Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high/low humidity areas Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment Requires use of wear personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.) May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required Travel to sites outside typical area Compensation: Commensurate with experience; The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $37.45 and $44.20/Hourly; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
