Job Overview: The Purchasing Agent oversee the procurement of resources. Responsibilities of the Purchasing Agent include but are not limited to managing purchase orders, managing freight for finished goods/raw materials, and management of inventory.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create new purchase orders using the MRP’s recommendations while making appropriate buying decisions
- Purchase orders will need to be validated for price and quantity while ensuring most economical buying decisions are begin made based on freight requirements/constraints
- Purchase orders are required to be emailed to vendor in which turn an up-to-date estimated date arrival will be expected to be maintained in the ERP system
- Excellent attention to details as well as the ability to maintain necessary purchasing records and documents will be require
- Responsible for setting up freight as needed for incoming and outgoing material shipments
- Actively update the ERP system for estimated delivery dates of material and track pick-ups and drop-offs for incoming and outgoing freight
- Maintain records/analysis of cost of freight for regular shipments of goods (to and from), track freight per UoM as shipments are conducted, and maximize capacity on all freight moves
- Develop working relationships with freight/logistic representatives so ensure competitive rates and handle freight claims as needed
- Ensure accurate inventory levels by scheduled Cycle Counting
- Communicate current stock levels/stock out situations and potential issues with open orders
- Report on Inventory activities, discrepancies and variances
- Set optimal Inventory Levels for SKU's based on Current Sales trends and future communicated trends
- Work with Production and Shipping Team to improve process flow and Inventory accuracy
- Help develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have strong communication skills
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Customer and Personal service is required
- Computer skills, including data base reporting software, analytic software, and spreadsheet software required
- Previous experience with negotiations preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, education may be substituted with industry experience

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
