We are seeking a Junior Scheduler to join our AFL Hyperscale team in Kent, WA. The Junior Scheduler will have both administrative and scheduler duties. Administrative tasks include supporting scheduler, generating and printing accurate and timely production schedules, assessing order change requests, creating and releasing work orders and printing drawings. Scheduler tasks include shortage review, determining shipment promise dates for new orders and ensuring the optimal use of capacity, resources, and materials. In this role, the incumbent will demonstrate consistent, reliable, and accurate attention to detail, ability to multitask and work well under pressure with changing deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Generate and print Production Schedule report as well as diffusion.
- Create and release work orders, change status from release to on-hold, depending on scheduler instruction.
- Print work orders, drawings and pick list. Deliver to warehouse for picking purposes following FIFO (first in, first out) and production completion dates.
- Ensure continuous flow from scheduling through production avoiding downtimes. Maintain enough work orders released to keep production lines running.
- Modify Bill of Materials (BOM) for change order approval
- Assist in generating reports that help to manage the department: Open work orders, capacity, lead time, and others requested by manufacturing/supply chain departments.
- Assist scheduler in reviewing material constraints before committing dates to customers and releasing work orders.
- Own specific work centers. Oversee the scheduling process to ensure that the published line schedules are an accurate representation of the current state of the operation and its customer commitments.
- Closely monitor shop floor performance to the production schedule each day and throughout the month. Communicate schedule upsets and areas of focus. Work with manufacturing to make schedule adjustments and recovery plans to minimize customer impact.
- Schedule new orders, set shipment promise dates, reserve materials to orders, and release work orders to manufacturing.
- Manage forecast capacity reservations to stay within their schedule window to meet a sales commitment to a customer.
- Coordinate schedule adjustments in response to customer change and expedite requests. Strive to meet each request by exhausting all options.
- Work closely with the supply chain, manufacturing, and sales teams to align capacity with customer needs including close communication on lead times and order status.
- Work closely with purchasing department expediting materials that experience delays to support orders committed to customer or to improve the standard lead times.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience or Production scheduling & administrative experience
- Experience in production scheduling in a lean, discrete, fast-paced manufacturing environment with relatively short lead times.
- Practical understanding of inventory management including finished goods and stock replenishment methods, cycle counting, accuracy controls, and schedule inputs.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle R12 or Great Plains, order management, inventory, and manufacturing related modules.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel) and ability to manipulate large data sets to obtain desired information.
