Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION: 
The primary responsibility of Teacher Support Program Lead is to provide high-quality support, information, and referrals to educators who contact the teacher support line. Support the organization’s mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: Honesty, Excellence Accountability, Respect and Teamwork.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work closely with AFMC Community Resources staff and external partners to achieve the goals outlined in the project. 
  2. Design and implement a Teacher Support Program (TSP) to address teacher stress and well-being for Arkansas educators, including help with problem solving.
  3. Develop resources for microsite that houses support materials for educators covering topics such as burnout, stress management, wellness, resiliency, and relationships.
  4. Facilitate face-to-face support sessions via virtual platform to assist educators with validation and problem-solving to build resilience and reduce burnout.
  5. Contribute to developing social media posts, creating podcasts and webinars focused on teacher support topics, and developing teacher newsletters. 
  6. Refer educators to New Directions Employee Assistance Program and other resources as needed. 
  7. Collaborate with other teacher support program specialists to develop best practices, scripts, documentation aids, and other resources.
  8. Provide structure, daily oversight, and necessary organizational support.  
  9. Ensure all activities address designated performance goals, the appropriate target audience, and are performed within designated time frame. 
  10. Adhere to format, content, and style guidelines, giving consideration to usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality. Maintain editorial/communication mission.
  11. Communicate needs and requests to other team members as appropriate.
  12. Follow AFMC, state and federal protocols regarding data confidentiality/security and HIPAA compliance.
  13. Additional duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Intermediate skill level with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Type 40 wpm.
  • Ability to prepare reports/files for electronic or physical transport to external locations.
  • Proficiency in evidenced-based best practices and procedures.

Job Requirements

Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices):
Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, ability to read and write ability to communicate with personnel, ability to remain calm under stress and ability to travel as needed.  Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations. 

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree and current or previous Arkansas teaching certificate. Obtain Mental Health First Aid certification within 6 months of start date. 

Desired: Mental Health First Aid certified.

EXPERIENCE: 
Required: 5 years’ experience in K-12 education. Experience with classroom and behavior management, lesson planning, and the educational environment.

Desired: Thorough understanding of behavior management and special education needs and knowledge of mental health needs.


INTERNET REQUIREMENTS:
Reliable, high-speed wireless internet service (Wi-Fi)
An upload speed of at least 2Mbps is required to support softphone functionality.
