ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares for assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of his/her immediate supervisor;
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning, encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior, and maintains order in the classroom and shop;
- Instructs students in subject matter, using a variety of teaching strategies and materials;
- Prepares a teaching outline for the course of study, assigns lessons, and corrects homework papers;
- Is able to performs the task(s) that he/she teaches;
- Prepares, administers, and corrects tests on a regular basis; records results;
- Keeps attendance and grade records as required by the board of education;
- Discusses students' academic and behavior problems/progress with parents and suggests corrective action, as appropriate;
- Observes students to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and reports, as appropriate;
- Maintains up-to-date class and shop inventory records;
- Maintains shop and class equipment in a safe and workable condition;
- Ensures that students are instructed in the safe and proper use of equipment and monitors their use;
- Fosters cooperative social behavior;
- Reports to the principal any reasonable suspicion that a student's health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect;
- Works with students, associates, parents, community groups, and business/industry personnel in a cooperative and professional manner;
- Represents the school and the community in a positive manner;
- Complies with board policies, school rules, and administrative regulations;
- Meets assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated;
- Attends work regularly and on-time;
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops; and
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
