About the Unit
Reporting to Agronomy Solutions manager, the Agronomy Specialist will support the development of Yara's Nature Positive crop solutions including execution of regional trialing, data collection, and knowledge support. With a focus on Potato, the Agronomy Specialist will be accountable to support Yara's Nature Positive Potato Solutions with management of Yara's Potato Incubator Farm and regional pilot trial sites. Support in other focus crops and Soil Health initiatives may be required. As a part of the North American Innovation Team, the Agronomy Specialist will work in close cooperation and cross functionally with the Sustainable Food Solutions Director, Sales Agronomists, and other sales and marketing teams to implement Yara's programs through agronomic support, data management and delivery.
The incubator farm is based in Southern Idaho, and the candidate should ideally be based in Twin Falls/Jerome or within driving distance of the Twin Falls/Jerome region. Candidate must have the ability to travel to this area regularly during the growing season.

Responsibilities
- Support the Agronomy Solutions Manager in the design, execution, and completion of regional trialing of crop nutrition programs to advance Yara's Nature Positive Solution development in Potato.
- Manage Yara's Potato Incubator Farm - including trial design and implementation, communicating with grower and external collaborators (University and contract research organizations) to ensure treatments are applied and data is collected, data analysis and results communication.
- On the Incubator Farm, serve as the point person to develop and communicate dynamic agronomic recommendations for potato based on yield and quality goals as well as specified sustainability metrics, including Carbon Footprint and Soil Health.
- Implement the communication of best use practices for Yara's fertility programs for Potato based on yield and quality goals as well as specified sustainability metrics.
- Support Yara's Potato value chain collaborations by providing oversight and expertise within agronomic pilots for crop nutrient management programs to reduce in-field greenhouse gas emissions, improve nitrogen use efficiency, and build soil health.
- Execute trialing and data collection and organize field days with direction from the Agronomy Solutions Manager.
- Collect and manage data within agronomic digital tools.
- Work closely with Agronomy Solutions Managers, Sustainable Food Solutions Director, Agronomy Directors, Digital Agronomy, and Sales Agronomists to execute Yara's Nature Positive and food chain initiatives.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or Ag related field. Master's degree may be an advantage.
- Certified Crop Advisor, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
- 1-3 years working experience in similar role and industries, preferably with value added fertilizers exposure.
- Strong knowledge of plant physiology, crop nutrition, and soil science.
- Good understanding of sources of greenhouse gas emissions in Potato or different cropping systems,
- Good understanding of and experience in soil health parameters.
- Ability to collect and manage data using digital tools.
- A passion for and understanding of science- based approaches to helping growers sustainably feed the world.
- Strong agronomic orientation.
- Strong knowledge of potato production (fries and fresh market), potato nutrient management, and processed and fresh market potato industry.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Strong accountability and able to deliver goals independently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate to many different audiences (growers, agronomists, food companies).
- Proficient in MS office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, as well as agronomic digital tools.
- Experience in using Cool Farm Tool or other greenhouse gas calculator a plus.
- Ability to manage, analyze, and communicate the results of large datasets of agronomic data.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Must hold valid driver's license and drive safely to necessary appointments (short or long distances). Driving is a substantial part of position holder's time.
- Able to drive long distances and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel regularly within the region.
