Position: Analyst, Food Retail and Manufacturing, Food & Agricultural Commodities
The Team: We are currently looking for an analyst to join S&P Global Commodity Insights' dynamic Food and Agricultural Commodities team to help develop our coverage of food retail and manufacturing markets. The food retail and manufacturing team is globally focused, monitoring supply conditions and prices for food and agricultural commodities, as well as producing analysis on how factors such as macroeconomic conditions, policy developments, and changing consumer preferences shape the food sector. The F&AC team produces world class analysis, forecasts and data across comprehensive global commodity markets.
The Role: The analyst position contributes to the team by collecting data, conducting investigative research, and producing both written analysis and statistical outputs for price forecasts. The team's research output is developed for a target audience of food processors, supermarkets, and FMCG/CPG companies. The research output is also "big picture" in scope - assessing market developments across a wide swath of food and agricultural commodities.
You will develop a global understanding of food systems, food and agricultural trade, and food marketing; Interact with major international food and agriculture companies; Work with an award-winning price forecasting team and build analytical skills.

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $58,000 to $72,000.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Responsibilities:
- Build price forecasting models for food manufacturing costs and consumer food prices to support procurement operations for food retailers and manufacturers.
- Produce written analysis to help customers understand "the story" driving price movements.
- Contribute to regular reports on pricing developments across food and agricultural commodities, providing a forward-looking view.
- Build interactive tools to help customers directly engage with S&P Global Commodity Insights data and make more informed pricing and purchasing decisions.
Your Qualifications and Skills
- A BS in Economics, Agricultural Bachelor's degree in applied economics or similar subject, Master's degree preferred.
- Prior work or internship experience in the food and/or agriculture sectors
- Experience managing large datasets and familiarity with coding languages.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Excellent MS Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI skills.

- An interest in commodity markets and how they operate.
- You will have high energy, are willing and able to deal with client requests as they arise, and to travel as the job requires.
- Self-motivated and ambitious, with good problem-solving skills.
