Ag Processing Inc is currently hiring for a Process Analyst at our refinery plant in St. Joseph, MO. In this dynamic role, you will develop training materials and train Laboratory and Research and Development staff in the use of lab equipment and running of tests. Seeking a strong leader who will supervise lab testing for accurate results, conduct non-routine laboratory tests and assist the Engineering department and Research and Development department on various tasks. Ultimately, this position is responsible for analytical method development and refinement.
Responsibilities:
- Develop training materials and train lab personnel on analytical methods and the use of various types of lab equipment. Develop new analytical methods, as necessary, to support business needs.
- Supervise lab techs as needed. Act as a backup for Laboratory Supervisor.
- Perform lab tests that are not part of the routine determinations.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Research and Development departments on a variety of projects.
- Maintain and troubleshoot such equipment as, ICP, GC, NIR, HPLC, MS
- Monitor the lab's adherence to standard operating conditions.
- Recommend improvements for efficiency, quality or method of operation.
- Develop operating techniques that enhance productivity and efficient operation
- Maintains lab's non-network computer systems (those attached to instruments) including data and operation of user programs.
- Conduct monthly trend analysis on analytical constituents.
- Order special reagents for use in special projects.

- Bachelor's degree in the applied sciences (biology, physics, and chemistry) or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of quality control or laboratory experience, including operating laboratory equipment
- Proficient mathematical and computer skills
- Knowledge of agricultural product refining and processing. Knowledge of soy degumming and refinery operations desirable.
- Experience with chemistry and laboratory testing techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of supervisory techniques to accomplish training and motivation of employees.
- Exceptional analytical method development and troubleshooting skills.
- Talent in planning, organizing, problem solving and decision making.
- Understanding of various laboratory testing equipment (ICP, HPLC/MS, GC, NIR).
- Skill in problem solving and decision making along with ability to attend to detail.
- Strong technical report writing along with written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with management, co-workers, customers, and outside business contacts.
