Overview:

Safely and effectively deliver propane to residential, agricultural, commercial and oil field customers. A propane driver is a key point of contact for our customers. This position requires an individual to safely drive a propane delivery vehicle to customer locations. This position requires a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward safety, sales, customer service and employee teamwork.

Essential Duties:

• Safety and Customer Service are very important to ensure the job is carried out correctly.
• Inspect truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each shift.
• Frequent loading and unloading from the truck cab throughout the day. Demonstrate safety traversing the steps to get in and out of the cab.
• Requires driver to be able to bend, stoop, kneel, pull and push all types of hoses and equipment required to do the job.

• Daily delivery of refined fuels (gas, diesel)/Propane and monitoring of customer propane tanks to homes, businesses and/or farms.
• Builds strong, positive relationships with the customer base (internal and external). Continually looks for opportunities to market and sell products and services to customers.
• Yard maintenance and upkeep 20%
• Regulation and state mandated training 10%
• Truck maintenance 10%
• Check emails and reply in a professional manner 30%
• Position trucks to better service customers 20%
• Assist office staff as with paperwork 10%

Education:

• Minimum HS Diploma or GED

• CDL class A or B w/ clean driving record. Hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements required.

Experience:

• Completed courses in propane safety, delivery and sales preferred.
• Comfortable with mountain driving
• Minimum one (1) year Bobtail or Straight Truck driving experience required.
• Previous Hazmat experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in safely maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, including inclement weather, heavy traffic and in or out of tight unloading areas.

• Must be CTEP certified 12 months after hire date.
• Cross train to deliver other hazmat products.
• Cross trained to support other division’s needs.

• Driver must be able to back equipment in all types of weather and conditions, including going forward and backing up for long distances and around corners.
• Be proficient with each delivery.
• Safely back truck often to unload.

• Obey all traffic laws to safely drive to and from designated destinations for up to 12 hours.
