The Accountant position's primary function will be to perform routine bookkeeping tasks.
Bookkeeping and Administrative Accounting:
• Perform routine bookkeeping tasks, including the reconciliation of bank statements and various general ledger accounts.
• Accurately record and maintain financial transactions, ensuring the integrity and completeness of accounting records.
• Collaborate with controller and CFO to provide financial reports, statements, and summaries to provide insights into the organizations financial activities.
• Collaborate with controller and CFO in the development and monitoring of budgets and contribute to financial forecasting process.
• Facilitate internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and coordination with auditors.
• Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Accounts Payable:
• Efficiently process incoming invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring proper approval channels are followed.
• Prepare and Process payments.
• Code and review classification of expenses are accurate, allocate costs to the appropriate departments or accounts.
• Maintain organized records of invoices, payments, and related documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
• Coordinate and follow through with the approval workflow for expenses, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting:
• Assist Controller with identification, design and documentation of internal controls required to mitigate financial reporting risk and maintain a sound internal control environment. Provide support internal control projects, monitoring and testing protocols required for a full attestation over Financial Reporting by an independent auditor. Monitor GAAP and regulatory developments to support external reporting and implementation of new controls as needed.
Fixed Asset and Inventory: Process fixed asset acquisitions, retirements & trade-ins as needed. Monitor fixed asset accounting activities. Prepare quarterly board report of capital purchases and retirements by deadlines established by corporate secretary. Prepare personal property tax returns for counties. Maintain construction in process activity.
Other Duties and Professional Development: Other assigned tasks are performed timely and accurately. Back-up training and job function documentation to be included.
Skills/Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major preferred; or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years of accounting and/or accounting systems experience.
• Possess sufficient communications skills, both written and oral to represent the Association in a professional manner.
• Proficient with technology; possess skills to utilize office equipment and basic software tools including phones, computers, and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to handle multiple responsibilities throughout the day.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member under minimal supervision.
• Adapt to changing circumstances and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to treat sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of GAAP and their application to the function performed with Farm Credit.
• Ability to work in corporate office.
