Sparta Co-opSparta Co-op Services is a locally owned and operated, full-service agriculture supplier located in Sparta, WI. The company was formally established in 1996 as a result of the merger of Sparta Co-op Exchange and Sparta Co-op Oil, giving them the ability to provide a wide range of products and services. These include agronomic products and services including seed, chemicals, fertilizer, custom spreading, and more as well as grain, fuel, and tire services. We are looking for an Agronomist to carry out agronomy sales and grower relations.
In this role, you will be selling our full line of agronomy products including seed, fertilizer, and chemicals, as well as working with growers throughout our territory to develop and execute crop plans. You will make recommendations that are in the best interest of our customer to become a trusted agronomy professional that gives the customer their best opportunity to be profitable in an ever-changing ag environment. What You Will Do: Serve as the primary grower contact for agronomy products.
Execute seed, fertilizer, and crop protection sales and recommendations. Perform field scouting, soil sampling, and seed treatment. Collaborate with growers for nutrient management planning. Work hours other than those considered normal to meet the seasonal demands of the job.
What You’ll Need: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, cop/soil science, or related major preferred. A proven background in seed, chemical, fertilizer, and/or commodity sales, agriculture-related operational knowledge, or equivalent proven work experiences are encouraged to apply. Strong agronomic understanding of row crops (corn, soybeans, etc.) Communicates effectively with a diverse group of individuals from farmers, landowners, and back yard growers. Self-starter mentality and ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Understanding of basic computer skills as they relate to Ag business. Clean driving record. Have or able to obtain Pesticide Applicators License
