This position will oversee all corn purchases for our Nevada, Iowa plant. They will be responsible for the expansion of Verbio’s customer base, supporting grain marketing and specialty programs, managing risk associated with all origination contracts, assist with developing team goals as well as a strategy for executing those goals.

They will be responsible for the expansion of Verbio’s customer base, supporting grain marketing and specialty programs, managing risk associated with all origination contracts, assist with developing team goals as well as a strategy for executing those goals.
Responsibilities:
- Originates grain from area producers and grain elevators by building relationships and offering exceptional customer service with continuous customer contact.
- Records and communicates cash and contract grain purchase and risk position.
- Measures, monitors, and manages inventory to objectively report and minimize inventory shrink.
- Manages grain purchase position as well as truck logistics with suppliers and plant inventory levels to meet plant demand and in accordance with inventory guidelines.
- Quotes pricing and credit terms and prepares sales and purchase contracts for orders obtained.
- Enters purchase contracts into accounting system and maintains and manages grain records and documentation in compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Assists in the development of and communication of grain policies and programs.
- Works with accounting department as required to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments to producers and elevators.
- Assist with grain accounting, proof of yields, and grain settlements.
- Works with plant shipping and receiving department to ensure efficient receiving process, manage grain quality with a focus on a high level of customer service.
- Communicates grain purchasing and pricing to the corporate hedge group in an effective and timely manner.
- They will work with the traders in the Stamford office on hedging strategies and POV development.
- Is willing to work extended hours outside normal business hours including weekends.
- Responsible for following all environmental laws and procedures.
- Comply with all government regulations and company policies and procedures including training and inspections.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in Business Administration, Agricultural Business, Agronomics, or related field (preferred) or combination of education/experience will be considered.
- 10 years or more years of related purchasing experience and/or training in an agriculture, grain, or manufacturing sector.
- Experience providing customer service to farmers, grain elevator personnel, and truck drivers preferred.
- Proven results and sustained growth in sales and market share.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Clear understanding of grain marketing, including hedging, basis analysis, and flat pricing grain required.
- Understanding of and ability to communicate micro/macro market trends to Producers.
- Demonstrated understanding of grain accounting and contract recordkeeping required.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive working environment.
- Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers and colleagues.
