Job Description
Location/Remote: St. Louis, MO 63110 - 100% onsite
Employment Type: 6 - 8 week project/contract
Compensation: up to $65/hour (depending on experience)
We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team with expertise in network infrastructure implementation and cutover activities. As a Network Specialist, you will be responsible for physical removal of old switches, installation of new Cisco switches, and successful completion of network cutover tasks. Additionally, you will utilize Cisco DNA to onboard and register the new switches, conduct thorough testing for functionality and interoperability, and create essential documentation for network design, configuration, inventory, change management, and asset management purposes.
Responsibilities:
- Physically remove outdated switches from designated locations, following proper procedures and ensuring minimal disruption to network connectivity.
- Install and configure new Cisco switches, adhering to industry best practices and organizational guidelines.
- Execute the network cutover process, including redirecting traffic and activating new network components to transition from the old network to the new infrastructure.
- Utilize Cisco DNA to onboard and register new switches, ensuring successful discovery and integration with the DNA Center.
- Conduct comprehensive testing to verify proper functionality and interoperability of the new switches within the existing network environment.
- Create detailed documentation for network design, including diagrams, configuration settings, IP addressing, and VLAN assignments.
- Develop documentation for change management, including change requests, incident reports, and problem resolution.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of network devices, including make, model, serial numbers, and physical locations.
- Collaborate with the FTE network administrator to transfer knowledge, share documentation, and support ongoing network management activities.
Requirements:
- Solid experience in network infrastructure implementation, cutover activities, and switch installation.
- Proficiency in utilizing Cisco DNA for onboarding, registration, and testing of new switches.
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco networking technologies, including switch configurations and protocols.
- Familiarity with network design principles, IP addressing, and VLAN configurations.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills for network design, configuration, change management, and asset management.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in network-related scenarios.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
