The Rationale for this Position
Cyclyx International LLC is focused on addressing the worldwide plastic waste problem. Cyclyx is seeking a lab development/management professional to help scale our innovative waste-plastic-feedstock-management business model to help drive the current recycling rate of waste plastics from10% to 90%.
Role Overview
Fundamentally, you will be responsible for the overall quality assurance/control of the plastic-waste feedstocks delivered to Cyclyx members. You will assume leadership of the current waste-plastic testing capabilities in Portsmouth, NH and Tigard, OR, and lead the ongoing development and oversight of those capabilities as the demand for lab services continue to grow. There are currently labs in Portsmouth NH and Tigard OR with a third lab in the planning stages for the Houston area. Your leadership will include lab design, equipment specification, SOPs, and staffing. You also be an integral part of the business development effort by helping current and potential Cyclyx members gain needed confidence in the company’s technical mastery of its feedstock operations.
Responsibilities
- Interface with customers (internal and external) to define requirements and plan analytical testing to qualify large volumes of feedstock from various sources. This includes adding destructive testing to the NH Lab as well as the design of future labs.
- Workflow planning (when prep work is done, testing, how many techs are needed, how many samples can we analyze/week, when do we need to upsize equipment, preventive maintenance of equipment, etc.) across multiple locations.
- Develop all lab sampling and testing SOPs.
- Communicate directly with customers on analytical results.
Qualifications
Experience/Knowledge
- 10 years’ experience in an industrial production environment
- Direct management of lab with CIC, CHNOS, ICP-OES, and other polymer-relevant analytical equipment
- Experience with plastics a major plus
- Experience with non-standard analytical methods a plus
Education/Training
Masters/PhD in Chemistry, polymer science focus preferred, but relevant experience is more important

Position Mechanics
Reports to: SVP, Digital Asset Strategy & Technical Services
Type: Salaried; full time
Work Hours: generally 8:00-5:00, Monday to Friday. There could be occasional evening and weekend work.
Staff: TBD
Location: Portsmouth, NH
Work environment: professional office, manufacturing, and lab
Travel: is not expected to exceed 20%
Physical Demands: substantially that of an office environment; occasional lifting and manual work
