Internal Controls Analyst

Position Purpose
As a key member of the Enterprise Risk Management team, you will be a part of AgriBank’s mission to support the people who feed the world.  As the Internal Controls Analyst, you will work with AgriBank’s business functions to monitor and enhance internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and with governance, risk, and controls in other functional areas.  In addition, you will also assist District entities regarding internal controls best practices and with the monitoring of AgriBank’s District entity’s ICFR programs in compliance with general financing agreement (GFA) covenants.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare the annual planning and scoping documents to assess risk and ICFR controls needed for AgriBank
• Prepare and maintain documentation for all ICFR controls, key reports and key spreadsheets within the Bank
• Monitor changes to ICFR controls, including Bank projects and system conversions
• Monitor current risks and controls to ensure current controls are in compliance and monitor changes (business structure, projects, etc.) to help ensure changes do not impact the design and/or operating effectiveness of overall ICFR program
• Facilitate communication between control owners and internal and external auditors
• Facilitate coordination with ICFR testers related to design of controls, including communicating control changes throughout the year, tracking status, and answering questions
• Coordinate with all applicable AgriBank departments to obtain and perform updates to the COSO documentation
• Prepare analysis of all applicable third-party service provider service organization control (SOC) reports and work with owners to complete reviews for ICFR and vendor management
• Coordinate ICFR walkthroughs, including scheduling meetings, obtaining all support, and prepping parties involved
• Obtain and review all District entity’s ICFR documentation received per the GFA ICFR covenant
• Document GFA review and draft applicable observation memos
• Obtain District entity’s summary of deficiencies (SAD) reports and draft consolidated District SAD
• Collaborate with District entities regarding ICFR support and best practices

The level of the job will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant work experience, in which job functions and level of responsibility could vary.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
• 1 year of public or other equivalent accounting experience
• 2 years of related controls experience
• CPA or CPA eligible preferred
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of, and experience with governance programs and an ability to design, implement, evaluate, and optimize internal control structures
• Basic understanding of internal controls and the internal and external audit processes
• Basic knowledge of financial reporting standards and processes
• Basic understanding of corporate governance and SEC rules and requirements
• Ability to prepare memoranda and/or reports that communicate research findings and recommendations concisely and effectively
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
• Intermediate proficiency in office software Microsoft Office Suite
