AHBL is a multidisciplinary firm offering services in civil and structural engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and land surveying to public and private clients alike. We are looking for a collaborative, creative, and versatile Urban Planning Project Manager who is eager to work on a variety of exciting projects from our office in Tacoma.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
In this role, you will design and direct planning projects of varying size and complexity for public and private sector clients throughout Washington and the west coast. You will be performing professional planning services in a team environment and will enjoy frequent contact with AHBL’s clients, including contacts with the city, county, and state officials and staff, citizens’ groups, and other professionals. Your work will include the preparation of comprehensive plans, subarea plans and development regulations. You will also prepare parks, recreation, and open space plans, as well as environmental review documents under the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA). Your work will include participating in multi-disciplined teams to help design and entitle projects as well as work under our on-call consulting contracts. You will coordinate with principals and project managers for scheduling and client management, confer with clients, anticipate and resolve project challenges, and monitor schedules and budgets. You will prepare fee proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, progress memos, and requests for additional services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in planning or landscape architecture from a four-year college or university and 7 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expertise in the philosophies, principles, practices, and techniques of planning
- Understanding of land use controls (e.g., zoning, subdivision, landscape codes)
- Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills and an interest in public engagement
- Prior knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and basic file management skills, as well as familiarity with Newforma Project Center and Deltek Vision
- Knowledge of Arc GIS Arc View 10.x or better, Adobe Creative Suite 5 or newer (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat X pro), County View, Metro Scan, RS Means Costworks, AutoCAD, Civil 3D 2012 with LandFX 2012, Autodesk Impression 3, SketchUp 8, and Aerials Express
COMPENSATION
Actual pay will be based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Ranges are based on a 40-hour work week.
- $84,000 - $109,200 per year
- Annual discretionary performance-based bonus.
