What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laundry- Split Shift position at AHC Vanco?
The purpose of this position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, and the facility’s policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Interpret work schedules and assignments
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily schedules
- Collect soiled linens, personal clothing of patients, towels, etc. and wash same
- Remove line, towels from dryer after thoroughly drying
- Sort, fold and store linen in clean linen room in orderly manner
- Press patients’ personal clothing as appropriate
- Report linen needs to supervisor
- Clean equipment and work area daily or as needed
- Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions, spills, excess carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc.
- Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and separate routine laundry items from items requiring stain removal treatment
- Discard waste and trash into proper containers and line receptacles with plastic liners
- Maintain privacy of patients and confidentiality of patient information
- Maintain dignity and respect for patients’ personal and property rights
- Attend and participate in in-service education classes, on-the-job training programs as scheduled or directed.
- Comply with established infection control and universal precaution practices, and coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services
- Follow fire safety policies and procedures
- Report all incidents, accidents, hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor immediately
- Report defective patient call lights, light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights to supervisor immediately
- Deliver linen to patients’ rooms
- Follow the established universal precautions and isolation procedures
- Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in patients’ personal and health care needs
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
