About the Opportunity.
Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Specialist provides generalist and administrative support to the Operations, Safety and Human Resources Departments as well as other managers in all plant areas. In this role, the individual will be, solely, responsible for the oversight of an employee population of around 100 employees.
Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists department in carrying out various human resource programs and operations support across all employee populations and other Ahlstrom sites
- Participates in recruitment effort for hourly personnel
- Conducts new employee onboarding, post offer testing and background and reference checks
- Maintains job posting procedures, internal restructuring, change notices and seniority lists.
- Process hourly and salary payrolls and maintains supporting payroll records.
- Provides employee support for Company benefit plans and open enrollment.
- Maintains Human Resource Information System (ADP and SAP/Success Factors) records; compiles reports form HRIS database as needed.
- Acts as liaison for employee relations issues in the absence of HR Manager, participating in operations and scheduling meetings as required.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Manages Worker’s Compensation protocols, claims follow-up and other safety related employee testing to include post offer physicals, near miss documentation, respirator, hearing, first aid screenings and training and required OSHA reporting.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives and Behavioral Based safety initiatives in addition to individual team participation.
- Maintains records, reports, and logs pertaining to EEO reporting and Affirmative Action Planning.
- Compiles and maintains personnel and training records and annual training spreadsheet for employees.
- Maintains QS/ISO/EMS training records and procedural updates for annual certifications. Participates in auditing activities as requested.
- Assists in the maintenance of organization charts and employee directory.
- Posts electronic and local announcements as special events to enhance communications.
- Coordinates Service Award Program and employee recognition and recreation activities.
- Provides administrative support to HR Manager and managers of other departments not only in human relations but also in development and implementation of Plant needs.
- Completes special projects as directed by the Operations team.
- Adhere to all safety policies, OSHA regulations, ISO14001, ISO 45001 and ISO9001 standards and policies.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Minimum Occupational Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant field
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in same or similar role
- Experience supporting manufacturing environment preferred but not required
- Experience utilizing SuccessFactors and ADP, preferred
- MS Office experience, required
