UW- Specialist - Aerospace

Responsibilities include:

• Understands the AIG value proposition, product line strategy, and has ability to effectively communicate underwriting appetite internally and externally
• Under general direction underwrites assigned portfolio of complex risks.
• Underwrites assigned risks within individual authority across numerous aviation minor lines.
• Reviews analysis including major underlying assumptions, decision-making processes and conclusions of lower-level underwriters.
• Work in unison with other departments, business development and account managers to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.
• Coordinates and administers UW training.
• Demonstrates proven ability to develop and maintain exceptional working and production relationships. Makes independent production calls to market and cross-market products.
• Works closely with colleagues in distribution as a representative of the aviation product line.
• Achieves established rating targets and strategic objectives as set from by the company.
• Assists Management in the preparation of business, line reports and agency analysis; assists in the review of procedures to resolve issues; and trains and instructs lower level Underwriters.
• Participates in research projects involving identification and classification data.
• May assess needs and suggest/promote alternative products or services.
• Recognizes and recommends operational improvements.
• Responsible for the day-to-day application of organizational policies and procedures.
• May make hiring decisions and conduct performance appraisals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of aviation underwriting experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency in desktop tools, including underwriting, rating, and policy administration systems.
• Experience with stakeholder awareness, communication and expectation management.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, analytical thinking and leadership, team management and building.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
