Responsibilities
-Collaborating with engineers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and specifications.
-Interpreting architectural and engineering drawings to develop HVAC system layouts.
-Creating accurate and detailed 2D and potentially 3D models of HVAC systems using AutoCAD software.
-Incorporating equipment, ductwork, piping, and other components into the designs.
-Ensuring that the designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
-Coordinating with other design disciplines, such as electrical and plumbing, to ensure compatibility and coordination of systems.
-Making revisions and modifications to drawings as necessary based on feedback or changes in project requirements.
-Assisting in the preparation of material take-offs and cost estimates.
-Providing support during the construction phase by answering queries and clarifying design details.
-Maintaining accurate records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
Requirements
-Education and Experience: A degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, HVAC design, or a related field is typically preferred. Previous experience working as an AutoCAD Designer in the HVAC or MEP industry is highly desirable.
-AutoCAD Proficiency: Strong proficiency in AutoCAD software is essential, including 2D drafting and potentially 3D modeling capabilities. Familiarity with other relevant software such as Revit or Navisworks may also be beneficial.
-Knowledge of HVAC Systems: A solid understanding of HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning principles, equipment, and components is necessary. Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to HVAC design is also important.
-Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders. The ability to interpret technical drawings and communicate design ideas clearly is crucial.
