Position Summary:
The IT Asset Manager leads the lifecycle of IT assets (hardware and software), as well as the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) asset
entries. Identification of all IT assets including software, hardware, virtual machines and cloud services, as well as for ensuring the information is
recorded in the ITSM solution via Hardware/Software Asset and Configuration Item (CI) records. Oversight of tracking CIs through their full lifecycle
from requisition through to retirement, and playing a role in optimizing technology spend and procurement, and for developing the processes,
systems and tools for asset/configuration management.


Work with CI owners to help maintain and validate their data, drive service mapping criticality and incorporate processes to manage this and the
validation of and auditing of Discovery data, resolving CI conflicts and mitigating and/or eliminating duplicate records.

Primary Responsibilities:

Hardware Asset Management:40%

  • Develop, curate, and drive asset management related processes and procedures, standards, policies, compliance controls, and reporting.
  • Create sustainable processes for populating and maintaining a CMDB and ensure completeness and accuracy of data within to be used
    for reporting, tracking, and control performance.
  • Monitor assets through their lifecycle to maintain assignment, location and warranty information, licensing requirements as well as
    refresh and renewal dates.
  • Develop and be responsible for defensible processes for end-of-life activities including secure storage, transport activities (chain of
    custody), data destruction, physical destruction, and maintenance of certificates of destruction.
  • Identify processes for license management across the organization and find opportunities for reduction of duplicative tools and license
    needs as well as ensure standard processes for compliance.
  • Collaborate with technical and project teams, procurement, legal and other partners to provide input and review of software and
    hardware purchases and collaborate on deployment.
  • Mature the IT asset management program using industry standard methodologies and in reaction to organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with the people team and service desk to develop strong processes around obtaining former employee hardware and re-
    issuing or moving to the end-of-life workflow based on lifecycle needs.
  • Maintain relationships with key IT partners and monitor compliance with outlined contracts including costs, expectations, and SLAs.
  • Work closely with technology leaders to identify methods for reducing technology spend on hardware and software while also bolstering IT efficiency, security, and preparedness.
  • Identify and lead the execution of process improvement initiatives in the Asset Management and Configuration Management space.

Software Asset Management: 35%

  • Determine licensing requirements for SW and analyze vendor licensing terms.
  • Document licensing data (in-/outflows), e.g. historic license data, new purchases.
  • Determine commercial software license inventory
  • Organize technical data collection, collect and document usage data
  • Generate clear reporting on consumption per OE/branch, per Service Owner, per software provider
  • Compile license balance; map commercial and technical inventories based on license metrics
  • Analyze license balances, identify the current licensing situation, identify licensing deviations (under-/over-licensing).
  • Perform software compliance management reporting.
  • Support rectification of licensing deviations.
  • Check pool for unused licenses of software.
  • Support SAM control and governance evolvement.
  • Support risk or software compliance assessments.

Projects: 10%

  • Manage annual Obsolescence for North America.
  • Support service transformation projects such Windows operating system upgrades and digital workplace initiatives.
  • Integrate tooling and processes with EU counterparts to automate these when possible.
  • Provide and/or lead project work packages to deliver the necessary service delivery guides, knowledge base articles, and user
    documentation as needed for sustainable entry into service.

Planning & Budgeting: 10%

  • Work with the Head Of Digital Workplace to identify opportunities in the IM Master Plan.
  • Collaborate with divisional and group counterparts to understand device standards, usage, and provide input for annual budgeting.
  • Monitor new projects and assists with ensuring that existing assets used to substantiate the return on investment are disposed of
    properly as well as partner with accounting to ensure new assets are properly recorded on Airbus' books.
  • Partners with IM Management to ensure accuracy on the Capex/Opex tracker and that the five year IT Capex forecast is aligned with
    assets owned.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with global Airbus IM support functions to develop and improve standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Airbus IM standards, network security standards & evolving cyber security requirements.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

Degree in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • ITILv4 Foundation - required
  • ITAM is preferred
  • ITILv4 Service Management is preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years in an IT asset management, IT procurement, or similar type role within IT.
  • Experience with at least one IT asset management tool.
  • Experience with ServiceNow preferred.
  • In depth knowledge and experience with procurement, pricing, inventory and tracking of computer products and with budget planning
    and tracking
  • Detailed knowledge of server, data/voice network, and desktop hardware and software operating systems and peripheral technologies
    required.
  • Understanding of Airbus IM standards, project and services methodologies and procedures is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the IT supplier landscape in North America is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge in the areas of CMDB, ITIL, Knowledge Article development and key performance indicator reporting.
  • Knowledge of IT underlying technologies: SCCM, ServiceNow, CMDB, asset management, budgeting.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, German or French language skills are a plus

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • ServiceNow
  • Google WorkSpace

This position reports to the Head Of Digital Workplace in Airbus North America.

Job Dimensions, Contributions to Success:

  • Manages workplace hardware and software for 4500 employees across North America.
  • Provides level 3 support for more than 5000 workplace devices and software installs across Airbus in North America: Airbus
    Americas, Inc., Airbus Helicopters, Inc., Airbus Helicopters Canada, and Airbus Helicopters Mexico.
  • Lead the evolution of desktop operating systems and digital workplace services across North America.
  • This position has budget responsibility for all of North America IM helpdesk activities.
