Position Summary:

The IT Solution Architect in Airbus North America (USA, Canada and Mexico) is responsible for designing the most suitable digital solutions to answer Airbus North America business functions challenges.

In the context of key Digital & Transformation programs, she/he will be responsible to design, to follow & validate designs or even implement some products delivered to business functions. She/he will combine robust architecture skills and experiences, drive to improve existing systems and solutions and innovative mind-set to develop solutions for evolving business requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Solution Design: 60%

  • Leading, end to end, the development of the solution architecture for strategic and digital projects, partnering with Business, Application Development and Infrastructure teams to deliver a cohesive, forward-thinking, and adaptable architecture.
  • Define all architectural layers: functional, data, application, infrastructure, network, security..., collaborating with all internal and external resources sufficient to produce architecture design documents.
  • Analyze, assess and maturate projects business requirements and expectation provided through a Business Requirement Dossier or product backlog.
  • Produce self-explanatory architecture scenario decision matrix to support decision taking by business and IM management
  • Ensure IM landscape Integration and Operational viability of new products, defining and supporting Operation Conditions of Success (means, skills, process ...) with Product / Project teams" to guarantee Product Robustness, Scalability, Performance and Security
  • Deliver Business Product design through either traditional waterfall or incremental/Agile/SAFE methodologies in order to provide the value expected by stakeholders.
  • Lead Technical Guidance to accompany Product owners & managers to ensure fast Product deliveries applying Agile and DevOps principles when deemed appropriate
  • Manage escalations when necessary.



  • Innovation and Digital Transformation: 20%

  • Contribute to IM Digital Transformation proposing new Design Models and new Technologies (API, IOT, BigData, Augmented/Virtual reality, Artificial Intelligence, RPA...) to always better serve Business and provide Added-Value
  • Monitor technology market trends. Publish regular Technologies watch to the IM team.
  • Self-train/practice to keep your architecture knowledge up to date.



  • Architecture Framework and Governance: 20%

  • Defining and following best practices for product design from a system solution perspective : contribute to Architecture framework and knowledge base
  • Implementing and propose solution architecture processes improvement
  • Contribute to Airbus North-America IM Masterplan, Enterprise Architecture and IM Governance
  • Ensure the link between projects and transversal streams (Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance)
  • Contribute to the IM architecture board to improve the overall quality and maturity of all architecture designs done by the architecture team
  • Produce or contribute to the definition of IM domain roadmaps in collaboration with business directors, IM domain leads, Business partners and Product and Service Lines (NA and EU)
  • Contribute to improve IM landscape and cost reduction
  • Take active part of the worldwide Airbus architects community (Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific)

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

Required:

  • Degree in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

Required:

  • At least 10 years of experience in Information Management (IM)
  • At least 5 years of experience in application development, management or design
  • At least 3 years of experience in Solution architecture design
  • Experience with waterfall, agile and other project management methodologies

Preferred:

  • Understanding of Airbus IM standards, project and services methodologies and procedures is a plus
  • At least 2 years of experience in Digital Technologies, culture and transformation is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required:

  • In depth knowledge in IT and Digital technologies
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Customer Services, Manufacturing or Engineering
  • Knowledge in Digital Technologies and potential usage / benefits of these technologies for the business

Preferred:

  • Open Group Archimate and UML languages
  • Enterprise Architecture Frameworks : TOGAF, Zachman, NAF, UAF, IAF...

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

Required:

  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Fluency in English is mandatory

Preferred:

  • French, Spanish or German language skills are a plus

Technical Systems Proficiency:

Experience in several of the following applications architecture or technologies:

  • SAP, SAP HANA, MES, IOT, Google Suite, Analytics & Big Data products, J2EE, PLM
  • Micro service architecture, AWS, ESB, Web Application, Mobile Applications, HTML5
  • Cloud, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, Network, Industrial Storage
  • Cybersecurity

    • 27 Service Lines (with 100 sub-services)
    • 300 applications and tools and ~3,000 users
