Position Summary:
Assure compliance with Airbus Helicopters Inc. policies and procedures and FAA regulations. Assure high quality standards through approving incoming/shipping materials through established incoming processes while recording quality inspection results. An Inspector B will be required to work with inspection tools, aids and devices to determine tolerances and specification limits. This position will be responsible for performing detailed inspections of aircraft components, composite materials, blades, dynamic components, paint, and Backshop activities to ensure specifications are met and identify non-conformities.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Documentation: 50%
- Ensure proper tagging, identification and airworthiness of parts released to Airframe, Engines, and Accessories
- Compares quantity, part number, and serial numbers of items received with procurement data as well as other specifications to ensure the accuracy and completeness of order
- Responsible for accurate batch/Shelf Life Expiration (SLED) input in SAP
- Create, distribute and disposition the monthly SLED report as directed
- Create QNs for non-conforming material detected
- Ensure all materials have required documentation (i.e. 8130-3, EASA Form, Certificate of Conformance)
- Process Goods Receipts during receiving of material
- Document applicable maintenance actions for airframe, engine, blades, accessories and components in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved regulations and company procedures.
- Research airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and alert service bulletins for applicability
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, reports, and test specifications
- Properly document items in Quality Quarantine Cage
2. Inspection: 40%
- Perform required technical inspections to receive or reject incoming material, airframes, and aircraft components
- Detect and report suspected unapproved parts
- Perform detailed in-process and dimensional inspections for components in electrical backshops, manufacturing, composites, blades and dynamic component repair
- Use acoustic tap testing to identify non-conformities in blades and composite materials
- Conduct inspections to determine the serviceability or rejection of manufactured parts, electrical components, aircraft blades, dynamic components and paint
- Inspect aircraft aluminium, titanium or steel structures for cracks, corrosion, damage and improper assembly.
- Determine proper shimming and joining of structures with rivets or other hardware in accordance with design drawings, engineering disposition, and other approved data
- Detect hidden damage during inspections of airframe structures, blades, engines and sub-assemblies that could occur during shipping, receiving, or manufacturing
- Verify build of aircraft system wiring harnesses, connectors and electrical terminations as per design drawings
- Physically and systematically quarantine non-conforming articles and assemblies identified during inspections
- Monitor the use of Measuring and Test Equipment to ensure it is well maintained and current relative to its calibration cycle
- Perform stock inspections/purges when notified of possible non-conforming/suspect material

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred:
- Associates Degree in Aviation or related industry
Experience:
Required:
- 3 years as a Technician in aviation maintenance/manufacturing or equivalent related experience
Preferred:
- 2 years quality experience in aviation related field
Licensure/Certifications:
Required:
- Meet requirements of 14CFR Part 65.101 and be able to obtain a repairman certificate within 3 months of employment or
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant License
Preferred:
- FCC 2nd Class License

- Inspectors also collaborate with managers, internal customers, external suppliers, technicians, engineering, and other departments for inspection related decisions.
- Use consensus and collaboration to debate and resolve issues

Job Dimensions, Contributions to Success:
- Quality Inspector B has direct contact with internal customers and suppliers during shipping/receiving inspection of aircraft kits and material
- Quality Inspector B has the responsibility for generating/documenting of Non-conforming products, articles, and material when identified during routine inspections that supports and improves the overall quality of company products
- This position also supports the reduction in Cost of Non-quality by the prevention of escapes and non-conformities through the completion of inspection requirements
