Aircraft Engineering & Installation Services (AEI) is looking for an experienced, resourceful, and well organized Buyer for our growing Orlando based aerospace manufacturing firm. AEI is a registered Department of Defense Contractor as well as an FAA Approved Parts Manufacturer.
Overview
Responsible for the procurement, inventory control, and on-time delivery of all required materials, components parts, finished goods, and services to support the business at the best possible total cost for the quantity, quality, and delivery required.
Primary job duties are:
- Manage day to day vendor performance and fulfillment meeting the company’s specified goals
- Responsible for assuring that all materials needed for production are acquired on a timely basis following Company policies and procedures
- Purchase Main point of contact to suppliers and act as team leader on supplier related projects
- Meet with suppliers to evaluate services, products, and seek out cost reductions, quality improvements, and new products
- Communicates with vendors obtaining related information (price, delivery, invoicing problems, expediting, etc.)
- Updates and maintains vendor master file
- Establish accurate production materials standard costs and monitor them
- Understand and maintain the procurement system to provide accurate information to all dependent departments
- Communicate promptly with department managers regarding any material/service problems, discrepancies, pricing, substitutes and back-orders and be the lead in finding solutions
- Data entry of purchase orders/change orders
- Obtain quotes from alternate suppliers of required parts as needed
- Maintain control of inventory and parts traceability in accordance with FAA and ISO Standards
- Perform inventory reconciliation including cycle counting and yearly physical inventories
- Review Inventory and Order Summary of items purchased and adjusts orders when necessary
- Assist Accounting/Accounts Payable with resolving any invoice problems with the assigned parts
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures as well as report all unsafe activities to the department Manager or to the human resources department
- Participates in production meetings and coordinates change order activities to published schedules.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 to 4 years of Purchasing/Procurement experience, preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Must be able to persuade others in order to accomplish objectives and negotiate effectively
- Experience developing cost standards, price negotiation, vendor selection and maintenance of purchase order system a plus
- Ability to follow documented procedures, work instructions, and supplier/customer required records
- Must understand inventory control in order to minimize stock and non-stock orders
- Must be well organized and detailed oriented in order to prioritize duties for optimum productivity
- Able to process and organize purchase orders and receiving documents for Accounting/Accounts Payable
- Knowledge involving the acquisition of equipment, supplies and policies and procedures
- Must have the ability to utilize Material Management Information system (MMIS)
- Excellent written, oral, communicational, and interpersonal skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must be able to read and write, and understand English.
- Ability to multitask and work independently with little supervision.
