We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatch Support person to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with Crown TM or other dispatch platforms.
This position is responsible for the cartage customer experience facilitating the relationship between the business and the customer is first. Following the unit SLA is important to the overall service experience so quick response to issues that arise and follow through to resolution is the reason we are successful. The right attitude towards providing service and the tenacity to deal with challenges that arise throughout the day is imperative to the role.
This position also requires dispatching drivers as needed so attention to detail and follow-up is required. An understanding of the local market roads, conditions and weather patterns is important so route review is optimized. Communication with the dispatchers throughout the day is a must.
Customer Experience
- Rate shipment files and prepare for invoicing daily
- Contact partner carriers to get charges for services rendered daily
- Create and confirm EDI files daily using CROWN TMS
- Respond to customer email requests for shipment status, pickup/deliveries or quotes
- Listen to customer concerns and complaints with the goal of identifying root cause and corrective action when required
- Scan/upload proof of deliveries to CROWN TMS
- Email proof of deliveries and other documents as requested by customer
- Resolve OS&D issues as they arise with the customer as needed
- Develop meaningful relationships with customers to encourage loyalty and repeat business
- Demonstrate knowledge of services offered so questions can be answered
- Become the SME on local businesses and requirements so drivers have an easier time whenever they go to a site that requires appointment, truck restrictions, hours of operations etc.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
· Communicate the warehouse on behalf of the customer as needed
· Assist drivers on issues that arise throughout the day, as needed
· Add/Change driver routes when needed
· Understand volume and freight types to ensure truck capacity is utilized
· Backup dispatchers as needed when on lunch or absences occur
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- High School diploma required
- 3 years customer service experience, relevant dispatching, sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Intermediate level math aptitude helpful;
- Experience with dispatching systems helpful (e.g. 7L Freight, Crown TMS);
- Must type a minimum of 45 WPM;
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize work with strong attention to detail is necessary;
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
- Intermediate level computer skills using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook required;
· Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
