Department: 522

Reports To: Director of Manufacturing Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Shift: Monday through Friday 6:00am – 3:00pm (Require supporting 2nd and 3rd shift as needed)


SUMMARY

The Quality Manager is vital to the continued success of RVP as S/He is responsible for the implementation and execution of the Quality program for all products, raw materials, processes, and services. This position will work closely with the Vice Presidents, Functional Leaders, Area Managers, Customer Service, and Production team members to collaboratively develop and execute to the strategy to drive Quality and operational excellence in all aspects of our operation. Standard work and lean methodologies will be the basis to ensure alignment on standard practices across functions and value streams.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:


  • Track and interpret statistical data relating to quality; recommends changes in standards, processes, equipment, and materials to facilitate work and maintain quality.
  • Drive Quality control programs to ensure all products, raw materials, processes, and services meet exceptionally high quality standards.
  • Finalize and implement the quality manual and maintain documentation and revision level of quality documentation for all products or services.
  • Work with Product development to create product specific quality processes for all new products.
  • Maintain and communicate all quality data to department managers for problem identification, resolution, and loss reporting.
  • Effectively manage and report items with poor quality and the rework of such items as required, specifically items in D warehouse. Metrics to support would include turn around time of defective product within 24 hours.
  • Complete regular quality inspection trainings with manufacturing employees to ensure best quality practices are being maintained and upheld.
  • Perform problem-solving tests to develop corrective actions for quality issues and to initiate continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards.
  • Report quality metrics, training metrics, and trends routinely. Support the implementation of a dashboard with perpetual data so that decisions can be made at any time vs waiting on reports.
  • Coordinate returns to vendors and ensure corrective actions are in place to prevent future defects. Work with supply chain to apply remedies in contracts based on MTBUR and MTBF data.
  • Develop an ISO certification plan and strategy for implementation.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers and vendors to help facilitate the timely completion of projects and ensure the receipt of quality products.
  • Develop and implement a Skills matrix for training and to be used for performance reviews and pay increases with the support of manufacturing and human resources. Once completed, this information should be used to update the employee manual.
  • Assist with site-level projects, coordination of organizational readiness assessments and engagement plans.
  • Support and provide critical guidance on transfer of work improvements for products being kitted and supported by Marvair and Suburban.
  • Support additional initiatives as identified by the President and Sr. VP Operations and Engineering of RVP.
  • Develop and implement processes, training, and procedures that drive warranty costs down and improve overall quality. Support with metrics on the perpetual dashboard as well as published savings showing on the income statement year over year.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Quality, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics) or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in lean operations/management/leading enterprise wide initiatives, 3-5 years’ experience related to quality assurance.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus.
  • Plant Leadership experience.
  • Automation implementation experience a plus.
  • MS Office Suite tools including access database, Microsoft Excel, and Project.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build, manage, develop and motivate high performing teams through indirect leadership.
  • Strong business analytics and project management skills.
  • Laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience working in ISO, ISO internal auditor or ISO implementation experience, preferred.
  • Experience with Supply Management and Supplier Quality Assurance, preferred.
  • Implementation experience with SPC and process capability, preferred.
  • Familiarity with purchasing policies and supply chain processes, preferred.
  • Ability to travel within the US.


COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn required systems that are utilized to be successful in this position, such as AutoCAD, Solidworks (Assembly & Motion Studies), Microsoft Project, Infor XA, AS400, CNC Programming.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software, preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence for all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a concise and understood manner tailored to various audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, multitasking abilities, and the ability to communicate written and orally.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Strong mathematics skills.

Ability to calculate figures, understand and effectively communicate technical complex concepts.


REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to identify and describe practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
