Summary:The technical writer supports the end-users by analyzing information support requirements; writing and upgrading product documentation.Duties and Responsibilities: Understand documentation requirements by conferring with software developers and programmers; studying product.Develop writing strategy by identifying systems aspects that need documentation; evaluating customer researchDevelop writing plan by establishing standards, priorities, sequences, and schedules.Prepare documentation by converting technical descriptions into user-understandable language.Confirm documentation by observing product use and interviewing users.Improve documentation by evaluating frequently asked questions; interviewing help desk and technical support specialists and users.Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Technologies – In training with Integrations, Heating, and Operations. Trained but needs support with Jigs and Tools, Platforms, Machine Design, and Controls.Software Tools – In training with CATIA, NX, and GURU. Trained but needs support with InDesign.Personal & leadership – In training with Ability to Lead, Customer Interface, Requirements Management, and Scheduling & Estimations. Trained but needs support with Process Based Thinking. Perform other duties as assigned.Education and Work Experience:Bachelor’s degree in professional writing, technical writing, or in a technical field required.Minimum of three years of technical writing or similar experience.Strong knowledge of Microsoft products. Experience with graphics tools such as SnagIt, Illustrator, FrameMaker and Photoshop. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:List of needed knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the job.Able to read and understand engineering data using 3D models, 2D drawings, and schematics (ie: Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic)Break down a complex concept so that is easily understood by the target audience.Read design drawings for Bills of Material (BOMs).Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results.Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.Clearly articulates ideas, opinions, and information so others understand them.Able to properly structure, organized, and grammatically correct reports and documents.Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, word-processing program and spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Office).Maintain confidentiality while processing and handling confidential information with discretion. Open to different and new ways of doing things; willingness to modify one’s preferred way of doing things.Perform consistently under stressful conditions.Knowledge of 3D CAD/CAM – experience with Catia, Iges, STP Data.Knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.Knowledge of design techniques, tools, fixtures, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
