Job Title: security compliance architect (Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Cambridge, Massachusetts)(Multiple Positions): Will be an integral part of a team working to assess various technologies applied in innovative business areas, resulting in high-throughput transaction systems at global scale. This is an individual contributor role with responsibilities for understanding security and compliance requirements and interpreting them for Akamai systems, guiding product teams to build secure systems, and helping explain those systems to internal and external parties including auditors. This is not a hands-on job configuring packet filters or applying vendor patches, nor is it simply checking checkboxes. Will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, learn how Akamai’s web-scale systems work, and guide the company to securely and efficiently meet our compliance obligations and security needs. Will drive exceptional security for customers and the internet community; explain security requirements to technical and non-technical staff; educate others on how requirement objectives are met even when the letter of the requirement is not. Will be responsible for: advising, influencing, and educating the company on security requirements and ensure appropriate stakeholders participate in informed decision making; collaborating with teams to understand and articulate risks to Akamai systems; learning new technologies and security compliance standards and explaining their security and compliance implications; translating security requirements to business, technical, and process requirements; educating internal and external stakeholders about Akamai’s control environment; and supporting security incidents by providing expert security advice.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Masters or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related field plus 4 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelors or equivalent degree in computer science, information Assurance, or related field plus 6 years of relevant experience, or alternatively will accept a PhD or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related field plus 1 year of relevant experience
MUST HAVE: Experience with designing or analyzing applications or systems; experience with identifying, explaining, and guiding solutions for application and system security risks; experience with translating compliance requirements to business requirements, identifying non-compliant solutions, and guiding remediation; ability to communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences through both speech and prose; a strong work ethic and a positive attitude; ability to communicate clearly, effectively and persuasively verbally and in writing to technical and business audiences; excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly; and experience with security standards and frameworks including one or more of the following: PCI, ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST/DoD frameworks.
