The agency is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The worker in this position works 20 hours per week. There may be times when it is necessary to work beyond the 20-hour work week.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
85% Case Establishment and Documentation:
The worker in this position will create cases within Compass environment and assign new or locate existing SIS numbers for each client in the report; research victim and perpetrator history in Central Registry for each adult/caretaker in report; locate and report criminal history for adults in the report; determine all pertinent information to the cases received in order to enable the social workers to complete their jobs more effectively; verify the information is correct for all household members. Often the referral requires additional information as the full names and social security numbers of individuals which is unknown by the reporter and requires additional research within provided systems in comparison to the victim’s name and individuals mentioned in the case. This processing assistant prepares histories for social workers and provides them via email when information is needed on individuals in families. This position is also responsible for keying electronic submission of forms 5027and 5026 to the state and completing initial and final documents.
15% Records Management:
Locate, prepare and transfer APS records to requesting counties.

Employee must be highly skilled at applying correct policy and knowledge of necessary actions required. Caseworker must have a keen eye to detail in order to avoid errors.
2. Consequence of Error:
Completing thorough research for each case is extremely important for all cases handled. Research completed for these cases can affect the life, well-being, and safety of all individuals in that home, as well as any individual working the case. If research is done improperly and something is missed, it could put an individual in extreme danger; in some cases, it may be life threatening and result in the injury/death of an adult, or even possibly the caseworker visiting the home.
3. Instructions Provided:
Employee receives assignments generally indicating work to be done, deadlines and priorities. Employee uses initiative in carrying out assignments independently.

Minimum Training and Experience Required:
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
