The Laborer, under direction of the Foreman, is a support role to the Company's other skilled trades. Laborers work on highway, construction projects, and excavations. They may operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools: air hammers, earth tampers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment. They clean and prepare job sites, dig trenches, place shoring to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris.

Duties:

• Performs tasks involving the use of their hands and hand tools such as tying rebar, cutting, using pneumatic and electrical power tools.
• Signals operators on machinery.
• Pour and help finish concrete.
• Position, join, and align pipe sections.
• Remove framework from set concrete.
• Help the Supervisors with any job duties involved in the construction and demolition process.
• Cleaning and preparing construction sites to eliminate hazards.
• Controlling traffic passing near work zones.
• Pouring, and spreading concrete, and providing assistance to craft workers such as masons, utility and carpenters.
• Regular attendance required.
• Willing to travel and must be able to supply their own transportation.

Physical Requirements:

The Laborer while performing the essential functions of this job is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, lift above their head, and talk or hear. The Laborer is occasionally required to kneel, crouch or stoop, climb ladders, bend at the waist, squat, and crawl in tight or confined spaces to perform the essential functions. The Laborer will frequently lift, move or push up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Ascending and descending ladders or stairs is required, and movement on uneven terrain is frequently required to carry out essential duties. Occasional driving of a vehicle is required.

The Laborer will spend their time on the physical job site. This position is exposed to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; and loud noises. Work in the construction area poses significantly greater risk due to moving construction equipment and active construction zones with trip and fall hazards.

• Strength and Endurance: Laborer positions are physically demanding, and a high level of physical fitness is required.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal communication and team work skills are necessary as proper completion of an assigned job and working safe will be highly dependent upon this ability.
• Flexibility: Ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations may change daily.
• Coordination: Balance, depth perception and eye-hand coordination are critical.
• Expected Hours: Hours will vary by job, location and season. Working a night shift may be required.
• Positive attitude.
• Work Ethic: Dedicated and hard working.

Qualifications:

• 1 years of experience within the demolition industry.
