Position Summary
Alcon Industries, Inc. is seeking a Melter to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a few years’ experience running furnaces in a foundry setting. The Melter manages the furnaces, pouring and regulating the flow of molten metal into molds in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Job Functions
- Control furnaces to melt metal prior to casting
- Mix different types of alloys, using correct measurements
- Load molten metal into furnace, using transfer ladle
- Read temperature gauges and observe color changes of metal
- Examine molds, making sure they are clean, smooth, and properly coated
- Remove metal from molds, using hand tools, cranes, etc.
- Transport cooled metal to storage areas, using forklift or other equipment
Required Qualifications
- At least 1-3 years' experience working with furnaces
- Experience with demanding physical labor
- Ability to communicate efficiently with coworkers and leadership
