To help save our customers green, we need an amazing team who knows all about it. Our National Finance & Administration Services department oversees the management of the critical resources and infrastructure that our people need to get the job done at every level. This service department is designed to make sure our retail divisions and executive leadership receive the support they need to run a successful operation. Within Finance our teams include: Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Reporting, Tax and Treasury.
In this role the Data Steward will be responsible for data quality check accuracy, ensuring timely data remediation, and will work cross functionally with numerous local and international stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in SAP, knowledge of Aldi internal business rules, and/or excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills, and an educational background in business or technology. The objective of this role is to help support the organization in achieving/exceeding established data quality expectations.

Duties And Responsibilities

- Evaluates data quality with globally aligned reporting tools and takes necessary steps so that specific levels of data quality are achieved.
- Escalates incidents and requests to appropriate internal personnel when further expertise is required.
- Oversees and coordinates data quality report delivery to business by taking ownership of process from report ideation to delivery to end user.
- Serves as first local contact support for data quality issues and trusted advisor for National Buying team on creation of data quality reports.
- Liaises with the IT department regarding software updates, questions, concerns, and suggestions.
- Recommends process improvements for area of responsibility.
- Creates new reports based on expertise of available data to satisfy ad hoc business requests.
- Uses in-depth understanding of business processes and how they relate to data quality checks, as well as systems knowledge to verify checks work as expected.
- Identifies and communicates previously unidentified data quality issues to direct leader.
- Manages multiple projects at once by prioritizing, setting deadlines, and coordinating the flow of information internally.
- Uses technical knowledge of database to pull data to perform root cause analysis of issues as well as validate data quality checks.
- Provides training to new staff and contributes to committee or teamwork.
- Attends international meetings when appropriate.
- Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to direct leader.
- Complies with ALDI privacy and security requirements and policies if job responsibilities include possible access to confidential and/or sensitive information.
