What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Director-Neurology position at Alector?

The Medical Director will support one or more development programs involving drug candidates in Alzheimer’s Disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, and other neurodegenerative diseases. The focus will be on working as a medical monitor for multiple studies and serving as a medical lead to support regulatory submissions.
Activities include responsibility for advancing priority clinical programs through study design and execution, as well as interpretation of data from clinical studies. You will interact with multiple levels of management within Alector, key external partners in the medical and scientific community as well as with global regulatory authorities.
\n- Provide leadership for programs that integrate the individual’s extensive knowledge in basic and clinical science, and neurological disease areas with knowledge from the medical community around the world.
- Act as Sponsor Medical Monitor with oversight of clinical trial activities and patient safety on behalf of the Clinical Development Group at Alector.
- Develop and maintain relationships with program counterparts in Commercial, Research, Regulatory, Biomarkers, Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance and Biostatistics.
- Establish external collaborative relationships to augment Alector’s capabilities in support of the clinical development programs.
- Participate in clinical reviews of the safety of Alector programs.
- Contribute to the development of critical initiatives and specified Business Development activities.
- US board certified
- 2 years of sponsor side experience
- 5 years of experience in clinical research
- Proven experience in late clinical development preferred, but not strictly required
- Deep understanding of basic science related to neurodegeneration and immunology
- Capacity and willingness to work effectively across disease areas.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills as well as being able to perform effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- The ability to lead directly and by influence, including strong problem solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.
- MD, MD / PhD or DO credentials. Neurology training with subspecialization in neurodegenerative disorders preferred.
