What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Scientist Upstream position at Alector?

We are rapidly growing and seeking a hardworking Senior Scientist to join our Process Development and Manufacturing Team, focusing on upstream process development. In this position you will support the development of novel antibody products by helping to create upstream processes producing these therapeutic antibodies. You will lead cell culture process development, scale-up, and technology transfer to help advance novel therapies into human clinical studies. You will work independently, mentor junior associates, and provide insight to improve processes, and communicate results in development team meetings. The incumbent will be responsible for developing cell culture parameters to support both antibody and protein manufacturing as well as general lab support, executing projects within the laboratory, writing study/research plans, and summarizing data.
The Senior Scientist Upstream will provide technology leadership for the Upstream Process Development for a variety of technical platforms, provide technical support for associated regulatory filings, and improve processes or propose modifications to equipment to deliver improvements. Responsibilities include process development, process scale-up, and tech transfer.. Requires hands-on execution of process optimization, cell culture media, along with process characterization of cell culture production processes that can be transferred.
