Description
One of Acara Solutions clients in the Cancer Research field is looking for a Cloud SQL DBA to join their team!
Our client is seeking a Cloud SQL Database Administrator who will be responsible for implementing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring and performance tuning of database systems on premise and on Azure cloud, to ensure availability and optimal performance of applications. The candidate should be proficient in migrating SQL databases to newer versions in IAAS and PAAS cloud settings.
Responsibilities:
- Perform SQL Server installations, apply patches, security updates and hot fixes.
- Deploying databases in azure cloud under IAAS (SQL on VM) and PAAS (SQL MI or Azure SQL database) settings
- DB server administration using Azure portal.
- Do performance tuning, troubleshoot issues and escalate with Microsoft if necessary.
- Refreshing prod data in test, DEV and QA environments.
- Create and administer databases on-premise servers.
- Migrate databases to newer SQL versions, co-ordinate with application on testing.
- Creating logins and managing user permissions with access control.
- Monitoring and analyzing SQL Server Logs and Application logs.
- Monitor databases, do Query Optimization, Backup/Recovery, Security Management.
- Setting up database maintenance tasks, create and schedule jobs.
- Proactively monitor SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes, and address issues as soon as possible.
- Strong working experience in creating, modifying tables, Index maintenance.
- Create and modify stored procedures and functions.
- Monitor Server Activity using third party software's, and solving problems as needed.
- Administering databases in development, test and QA environment.
- Audit changes in DB schema and configuration levels
- Initiate tracing to monitor database usage.
- Ability to work effectively with business, application owners and other team members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Provide on-call support.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- 4 - 5 years Cloud SQL server administration experience required.
- Experienced in SQL data migration to SQL MI, Azure SQL database or SQL on VM for SQL 2019 or above.
- Good knowledge of using Azure portal for database administration.
- Familiarity with SSRS, SSIS ,stored procedures and ETL.
- Good understanding of database security, backup/recovery, HA/DR, performance monitoring, database maintenance requirements.
- Experience in managing 24*7 production database systems.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Solarwind DPA is a plus.
- Azure Certifications is a plus.
