Job Summary:
This position will help the Department of Labor (DOL) OUI Operations group to troubleshoot systems including Sun UNIX servers in response to customers’ comments and phone calls while resolving issues over the telephone where possible. This position will communicate directly with the customer and assist by dialing in remotely when necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot systems Sun UNIX servers in response to customers issues and requests
- Resolve issues over the telephone or via connecting remotely
- Effectively research problem areas and provide solutions to reported problems
- Record, report and complete trouble tickets utilizing a Help Desk application
- Provides end-user support to software applications that support the UI program at the National, Regional and State levels in a UNIX environment
- Work closely with OUI Federal Liaisons or Technical Team Leaders during all phases of the software life cycle
- Develop working knowledge of Sun’s Solaris Operating System, OUI in-house developed and supported applications, commercial software products for UNIX based systems, commercial products used to integrate PCs into a UNIX network, UNIX-based communications protocols and email utilities
- Integrate and test new hardware and software components as they are added to the State replicate computer system
- Display patient and respectful demeanor during all contacts with end-users and system administrators
- All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum 1 year of hands-on Automated Data Processing experience working with integrated computer systems under a UNIX Operating System environment in either a Customer Support or Field Engineering
- Minimum 1 year of experience in using SQL statements to retrieve data from a relational database
Pre-Employment Screening Requirements:
Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance and pass a Government Background Investigation prior to their start date.
