What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapist position at Alexander Youth Network?
The Multi-Systemic Therapist provides comprehensive services to adolescents and their families. Completes functional assessments of the adolescent in the context of the family, school and community, focusing on helping parents build supportive social networks, empowering parents to address the needs of the adolescent more effectively, teaching the adolescent new coping skills and emphasizing long-term change that families can maintain after the program has been completed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Human Service and 2 years of experience QMHP required.
It is preferred that the individual will have experience in working with antisocial behaviors in adolescents. The individual should have a strong understanding of family systems and social ecology theories. It will be important to have an understanding of the MST philosophy and practices. The individual will have experience in coordinating services with other agencies within the mental health community. An understanding of family dynamics, substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, educational issues and the legal system will be essential.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
It is preferred that the individual be licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or be in pursuit of licensure. It is required that the individual be a Qualified Professional. The individual will need to hold a license in Multisystemic Therapy prior to initiating services.

The physical demands are such that the individual will be able to perform several job duties per day. The individual will need to have transportation to provide the services. The individual will need to be flexible in scheduling appointments with families and not have physical demands that prohibit this from happening.

The work environment will vary according to the cases the individual has at the time. Services will be provided primarily in the community, including the families' homes. This will sometimes be in neighborhoods characterized by drug and alcohol use and unemployment. The families' environments are taken into consideration when providing services, but this does not solely exclude an individual from the program. The work environment will also be at Alexander Children's Center, in which the individual will be encouraged to become an active employee of the agency and support all agency functions.
