People Operations Intern

In this support role on AlixPartners’ Corporate Services team, you will directly assist our People Operations team with a wide range of projects related, but not limited, to human resources compliance, contracts, data and analytics, employee relations, payroll services and technology. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, you will gain a better understanding of the different roles that human resources can play in a professional environment and be better prepared to work in this arena.

The People Operations Intern is role located in Southfield, Michigan and reports to the People Operations Manager. This summer internship is intended to be 10 – 12 weeks working in full time capacity. Paid relocation and benefits are not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to staff inquiries regarding human resources related matters.
• Update our internal databases and systems with employee information.
• Assist with human resource audits and documenting processes.
• Maintain files, correspondences and reports, including assistance with the digitalization of personnel records.
• Assist payroll team with document coordination and process optimization.
• Attendance in various interdepartmental meetings.
• Additional responsibilities as identified.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Current or recent enrollment in an undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in human resources.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
• Ability to be discreet and handle confidential, sensitive information.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with HCM (Human Capital Management) software is advantageous.
• Ability to work fulltime in a fast-paced office environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
