What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Technical Editor III position at ALLDATA LLC?
Position Summary:
ALLDATA Technical Editors work with others who share a passion for automotive technology, diagnosis and repair. Technical Editors in this role: analyze, edit, inspect, track and publish automotive repair and collision content using a proprietary software suite. Editors provide input to improve processes and quality control.
Job Responsibilities
- Adhere to defined editorial processes and specifications.
- Propose improvements in data accuracy and processing efficiency.
- Create, review and update process documentation as required.
- Coordinate with vehicle manufacturers to acquire data (File Transfer Protocol or other) when required.
- Learn and effectively use proprietary software programs to process and enrich content.
- Perform functional and content QC, provide feedback for quality assurance and process improvement.
- Research and answer technical questions related to automotive systems and ALLDATA products.
- Facilitate meetings and participate in committees and groups as required.
- Assist internal and external customers as needed to accomplish company objectives.
- Participate in software testing and other special projects or assignments as needed.
- Be enthusiastic and lead by example.
- Provide detailed daily time and activity reports.
- This position has no direct reports.
Skills and Requirements- Each line item must be met:
- ASE certified in four or more test areas OR have three or more years of experience as an ALLDATA TEII with advanced computer, communication and clearly demonstrated automotive proficiencies.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of automotive technology.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word and data transfer (FTP or other).
- Thrive in a team environment.
- Possess good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Quick learner that adapts to change quickly and easily.
- Self-motivated and quality results oriented.
- Ability to oversee project and team initiatives and help coach/mentor lower level technical editors.
- Must possess the ability to become a manufacturer subject matter expert, (clearly understanding the OE data structure, OE content types, OE content capabilities and the ability to be a decision maker related to content processing for an assigned manufacturer.
