Position
The Tutor position provides positive and personal learning experience for students along the Sylvan prescribed program materials. The Tutor position builds a balanced yet robust learning experience for students, evaluates progress on each assignment, and fosters an environment for personal learning for the students.
The ideal candidate would pour time and energy to know each student, support them with positive learning experience, and lead those students to higher grounds. A tutor candidate can turn frustration into confidence and dreamers into lifelong learners. The candidate blends technology with personalized teaching to get the best out of each student and improve their math scores.

Responsibilities
- Engage students and initiate instructions
- Instruct students as designed and prescribed by the Sylvan programs
- Manage time, tasks, and students during the balanced and robust instructional session
- Evaluate and record the assignment progress for each student
- Conclude instructional sessions, complete learning logs, and monitors transition activities
- Support procedures to ensure student safety and well-being
- Attend periodic staff meetings and completes training as needed
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- One to two years of teaching experience
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension
- Four-year degree or equivalent
- State teaching credentials - current or expired
- SAT or ACT Test Preparatory teaching experience
Position details:
The Tutor position is a part-time position. Candidates must be available during the hours of 3pm to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays. The Tutor position reports to the Center Director and should be able to deliver fully prepared lesson plans and materials. Compensation is above average market rates.
