We support Government and prime system integrators with engineering and management expertise. Allegient Defense helps clients with challenging Science & Technology, Engineering Acquisition, and Program Management Mission requirements.
Allegient Defense is a leader in advanced technology research and solutions development, and we are growing quickly. We are looking for a Technical Writer-Business Development to support our Corporate HQ office.
The Technical Writer will play a key role within ADI's business development team, supporting new business growth through:
• Leading the technical proposal development for growth opportunities, working closely with ADI's subject matter experts/technical leads to communicate the strategic technical approach and demonstrate our capabilities to implement the technical approach.
• Co-leading the technical proposal planning and writing by facilitating brainstorming, storyboarding, and facilitating white boarding sessions; developing logical frameworks, win themes, and theory of change, and negotiating and communicating writing assignments.
• Facilitating the development of a clear, winning vision; ensuring responsiveness to solicitation requirements and client objectives.
• Participating in eminence-building efforts before and after solicitation release, traveling on marketing trips, and participating in regional/industry events.
Job Responsibilities:
Proposal Writing, Editing, and Formatting & BD Marketing
· Outlining RFIs and proposal volumes. Analyze Sections C, L, and M to develop section headers and compliant document styles. Incorporate strategic direction on win themes and hot buttons in proposal design and arrangement.
· Content revision. Identify and incorporate initial section content to include executive summaries, past performance drafts, and technical approach elements. Perform initial revision to conform to specific RFP and/or client requirements.
· Desktop publishing. Handling document formatting, compliance, and attachment insertion. Ensure version control and consistency across file type conversion.
· Assisting in developing new content and updating content library. Perform reviews of Monthly Status Reports to codify processes and performance metrics, collect accolades, and interview performers as necessary.
· Editing. Perform final White Glove proofreading and line editing for all proposal volumes. Perform final compliance check and/or completion of cross-reference matrices.
· Marketing. Develop, draft, and edit corporate materials (capability briefs, articles, white papers, one-pagers, newsletters, etc.). Assist with website updates and digital content development through WordPress web editor.
· Requires significant experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel (mostly just to format and edit spreadsheets, not necessarily in the programming/formula aspects), and Adobe Acrobat.
Capture Analysis
· Opportunity Overviews. Execute initial “rip” of opportunities across various vehicles (GSA MAS, OASIS, SeaPort NxG, etc.). Extract and post summary information from Sections C, L, and M to inform a bid decision.
· Research and Analysis. Provide initial assessment of company capabilities and customer relationship to help inform a bid decision. Develop familiarity with current and recently concluded work/contracts to provide a thoughtful response.
· NextStage Upload. Create opportunity card in the NextStage CRM and upload initial data to include customer information, set-aside, timelines, value, incumbent information, and general scope.
· Capability Assessment. Using Section C of proposal or draft proposal, develop a capability matrix to align current performance/corporate experience with the RFP requirements. Perform the initial assessment and/or connect with technical performers for their inputs.
· Capture and Strategy. Assist on various capture efforts/research in regard to proposal strategy, win themes, etc. Includes researching incumbents, competitors, target agencies, and/or previous solicitations. Navigate various resources such as GovWin, USASpending, FPDS, BetaSam, etc.
Proposal Management Support
· Color Reviews. Assist in compiling the feedback for color reviews. Serve as a color team reviewer as needed, focusing on content development (Pink & Red team) as well as copyediting and/or clarity concerns (Gold & White Glove). As needed, serve as lead for color team review meetings.
· Proposal Management Materials. Help develop and revise kickoff slides, long-range opportunity slides, and other BD presentations. As needed, develop proposal schedules, compliance checklists, and data calls for writers/teammates. Provide notetaking for meetings.
· Staffing. Develop initial job requisitions from RFP personnel requirements and statements of work (SOWs)/performance work statements (PWSs). Review and format candidate resumes for proposal submission and/or client submission. As needed, assist with salary surveys using ERI.
· SharePoint Library. Help maintain the Allegient Defense SP library and BD SP site. Create and populate folders for in-flight opportunities, collect and upload proposal documents, manage consolidation and version control for working documents, and store and update “standard” proposal content (past performance writeups, management plans, certification documentation, etc.). Lead and/or contribute to projects to streamline content management.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Demonstrated understanding of Federal proposal writing
• Experience working with winning technical proposals across at least one of the following areas: program management support, SETA, IT and cyber security.
• Detail-oriented, strong thinker with ability to thrive in deadline-driven, dynamic environments.
• Demonstrated strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Demonstrated skills in strategic development and competitive analysis for proposal efforts.
• Ability to produce writing and/or editing sample required.
• Fluency in written and spoken English required.
Education and Experience Required:
• Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and 5 years' experience in developing proposals for federal sector.
• Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant field.
