Summary of position:
The position serves as the primary trainer for Fire and Life Safety functions for Fire Life Safety Directors (FLSDs) and Building Evacuation Supervisors (BESs) assigned to the field and all client locations.
Primary Training Responsibilities:
Schedule weekly all FLSD and BES training personnel for required training
Conduct FDNY mandated training for existing Fire Life Safety Directors and new hire personnel
Conduct FDNY mandated training for new hire personnel who will serve in a BES capacity; this training will encompass three (3) hours of Fire Safety and two (2) hours of Non-Fire Emergency instruction
Conduct FDNY mandated training for all existing Alliance Security personnel who will serve in a BES capacity; this training will encompass one (1) hour of Fire Safety and one (1) hour semi-annually of Non-Fire Emergency refresher instruction
Document all onsite training of security and fire safety personnel utilizing GuardTek, duty log and Fire Safety Logs
Input and or submit to the compliance department all documentation of training performed
Provide daily and weekly fire and life safety training for Fire & Life Safety Directors and Building Evacuation Supervisors
Provide to the payroll department training timesheets for payment to security personnel who train off shift
Ensure all training of Fire and Non-Fire Safety personnel includes the following:
Building occupant safety and owner liability mitigation
Assessment and assistance in the maintenance of Security and Life Safety systems
Vendor, contractor, etc. compliance with building fire safety rules and regulations
Care for and maintenance of the Fire Command Station and Fire & Life Safety devices
Inspection of property and timely reporting of required repairs and maintenance
Performance of Post One/Fire Command duties as required
Assessment of elevators and escalators for proper function
Maintenance of in and out-of-service status of elevators and escalators as required
Operation of freight elevators as needed
Contacting contractors to service elevators and escalators
Assisting elevator mechanics with access to areas in the building as needed
Responding to all emergencies and incidents, preparing necessary reports and notifications as needed and forwarding the same in a timely and efficient manner
Generating incident reports and sending emails to proper personnel in a timely and efficient manner, supervising security personnel and instructing as needed
Inspecting, updating, and completing elevators, escalator logs, Fire Safety logs, security logs, etc.
Testing manual pull stations, warden phones, tones and strobes monthly on midnight tours
Testing and inspecting the elevators and fireman's service on midnight and weekend tours
Inspecting and verifying the serviceability of building fire extinguishers on day tours
Supervising contractors performing maintenance on property
Inspecting work areas upon completion of work by building contractors and vendors
Performing escorts to potential renters and showing vacant spaces as requested by management
Ensuring building policies and procedures are enforced
Interacting and liaising with tenants, visitors and the public
Assisting in Emergency Actions and Fire Drills.
Ensuring proper fire-watch and related procedures, codes and laws are followed
Ensuring coordination with appropriate personnel, building employees and contractors to properly maintain real property and infrastructure
Liaising with management, tenants, NYPD, FDNY, EMS, contract security and the public
Ensuring safety of building occupants and minimizing owner liability
Assessing and assisting with the maintenance of security and Life Safety systems
Hold and maintain valid licenses and certificates, including but not limited to New York State Security Guard License, City of New York Fire Safety Director Certificate of Fitness and City of New York Emergency Action Plan Director Certificate of Fitness.
